Gaia Olea, Cyprus
Natural handmade aromatherapy products
February 2021
I stumbled across this natural beauty in mid-2018 when I was feeling pretty run down and exhausted from trying to find the right creams and medications to combat acne due to hormonal imbalance. I had hopelessly tried so many products out there provided by dermatologists and was struggling to come across a product with less chemicals and which would be less harsh for my sensitive skin.
It was a very frustrating journey to begin with as everyone was suggesting harsh synthetic chemicals (medication as well as topical creams)… and that is when I came across a post on Instagram from a girl who had been experiencing similar issues and was speaking very highly of Gaia Olea, their products and philosophy.
The first product I ever used from Gaia Olea was the spirulina, cucumber and neem oil acne soap and I remember how drastically it had improved the quality of my skin. I particularly love that the soap leaves a soft texture on your skin and doesn’t leave it dry. Thankfully, with consistency and patience, the acne had started to fade away… That being said, I had finally cleared my acne with a combination of lifestyle changes – working on improving gut health, regular facials by specialists using more natural products, a healthier balanced diet (mainly, eating less red meat) and balancing my hormones.
After trying the soap, I was hooked. I went on to try their facial oil which is primarily for the purpose of targeting acne prone skin. It is very light, with natural oils such as hazelnut, flaxseed and hemp, to name a few of the organic 100% natural ingredients.
I have been using the rejuvenate serum, at night – just a couple of drops are enough. Key is to be consistent and so I have been using this product for almost a month now and I am very happy with the results, thus far. The Rejuvenate Organic Face Serum with Helichrysum – this product is a combination of organic oils such as jojoba, avocado and argan along with botanical extracts and essential oils which nourish and gradually heal facial skin. As an evening self-care routine, I like to apply the serum on clean and cleansed face before going to bed and also use a Jade Roller (which I purchased from this beautiful company). You could either use a Jade Roller or a Gua Sha tool – to gently massage the serum into the skin. Jade Rollers are handheld massaging tools typically made with jade stone heads. I love using this product as it aids in boosting blood circulation, reduces undereye swelling and helps products, such as the serum, absorb better into your skin.
By far, one of my favourite products are the Sage Bundle Smudge Sticks.
Burning sage – also known as smudging – is an ancient spiritual ritual. Sage has antimicrobial, cleansing and purifying properties and therefore, some have deemed, it may keep infectious bacteria at bay. I would recommend placing it on a ceramic dish. Recent studies have established that white sage is rich in compounds that activate certain receptors in the brain and these receptors are particularly responsible for elevating mood levels and reducing stress.
I cannot urge you enough to try out their products if you haven’t yet done so. I also regularly use the Stimulating Coffee Scrub and during the 1st Lockdown in 2020, I often resorted to natural immune-boosters such as the Organic Fire Tonic. As this fire cider is quite concentrated I used half a dropper each time. I’m a true believer and fan of Gaia Olea’s products and I look forward to trying more and more of their products, day by day, as I love to explore what our Mother Nature has to provide – as all products contain 100% natural ingredients.
A little factual background: –
It’s truly inspiring to see that this local business is a one-woman show and that it all began with the love and skill to create homemade natural products. It is amazing to see how sometimes without even a certain plan or strategy in mind, creativity and passion can take its own natural course and find its own path and grow organically. Ingredients are, as mentioned above, 100% natural and products are minimally processed, plant-based and made by hand. What drew my attention to it more is the philosophy behind it and the fact that the owner tries to use as much organic, local and fair trade ingredients as possible, as well as using natural ingredients derived from other countries, which will find its way into a product (such as seaweed from Zanzibar – wow!).
I look forward to seeing more new products emerging from this business! 😊
