I was never a fan of smoothies, juices and smoothie bowls.. Mainly because the majority of places I would try them from, most drinks and dishes were not prepared using fresh fruits and vegetables. Very often you find that, unfortunately, certain places try to mislead you about healthy eating and are not genuinely about clean eating and wellbeing and venues tend to abuse the concept of “fresh, clean and organic” products. However, I am happy to say that the relatively newly opened, Smoothie Factory, has put a smile on my face and changed my mind about that.
Smoothie Factory was founded by an Olympic athlete who loved sports, health, and wellness in 1996 (Carrollton, Texas, USA). Smoothie Factory has grown into an international brand operating in 30 countries around the world e.g. USA, Australia, China, UAE, Dubai. The one I visited in Nicosia is the first in Cyprus (and if I am not mistaken, first in Europe)! 🙂
I tried a couple of yummy things during my first visit…
Green Detox
The Green Detox Juice – kale, spinach, ginger, cucumber and apple.
They have a wide variety of cold-pressed juices. The first time I visited I tried the Green Detox – I just absolutely loved the combo of kale, spinach, ginger, cucumber and apple. It was very refreshing and FRESH!
Its nice to see a juice bar like this with such a wide variety of products and convenient and easy for a quick grab-and-go! Other than juices and smoothies, their vast selection includes frozen yogurts, baguettes, wraps, salads, healthy halo cups and wellness shots. I also very recently tried their Citrus Green Smoothie. This consisted of oranges, kiwi, lemon, mint, spinach, honey and turbinado. All their smoothies are made with real fruit, have no artificial sweeteners and the majority of their products are gluten-free.
For me, one of the highlights of my visit was trying a super-food bowl. The Blue Brazilian was very delicious. It was light yet at the same time left you feeling content without the notion of feeling bloated. I was pleasantly surprised to note that it was not too sweet, the texture was nice and smooth and the dates gave the texture a nice consistency. This “super-bowl” contains organic acai, blueberries, yogurt, banana, dates and flax seeds. As for toppings – I asked them to hold off on the granola as it wasn’t gluten-free but had the remaining toppings which consisted of blueberries, banana, chia seeds and a drizzle of honey. Mouth-watering, isn’t it? 🙂
I had the pleasure of sitting down with the Managing Director for a little Q&A and to get a little factual background + info behind this lovely initiative and wonderful venture. Its really refreshing to see many young entrepreneurs with great initiative and energy to start their own business, especially during these challenging unprecedented times. Here’s a little insight into our convo –
Question: What inspired you to bring Smoothie Factory to Cyprus?
Answer: While I was studying and working in the UK I used to be a regular customer at different juice bars in London (2012-2018). After I returned to Cyprus I realised that something was missing – a real Juice Bar. We are now operating for the last 3 months (since 08/08/2020) and we have a great team of 10 people working with us. Our goal is to grow in the Cyprus market in the next few years and make people love our products.
Questions: Could you provide us with a brief description about your products and your personal faves –
Answer – Our moto is “Healthier Side Of Life” as we serve real fruit smoothies, cold-pressed juices, superfood bowls and our well-known juice cleanse programs, but we are much more than just a juice bar as we serve healthy light food like Sandwiches, Wraps, Salads, Chia Puddings, Healthy Pots, Healthy bars, Power-Balls and many more.
My favourite smoothies is Peanut Butter Powerhouse, cold-pressed juice Green Detox and the famous Blue Brazilian Superfood Bowl.

Talking about Peanut Butter Powerhouse – I must admit, this one immediately became a top favourite of mine also as it was quite an epic smoothie.
Next stop – I am definitely ALL IN for trying their FRESH JUICE CLEANSE PROGRAMS. They are 100% juices, freshly-squeezed on order, have zero preservatives and nourishing with enzymes.
Watch out for this next step 😉 with the holidays coming up, I am very intrigued in trying their cleanse programs for the purpose of accomplishing the following:
